Jeanne Bouza Rose

I knew that the summers on the windswept islands were magical. But I’ve come to love the rainy, dark winters more than I ever would have expected.

Trained in New York and spending time in Scotland, Jeanne is wherever her paint brushes are moving. She creates oil paintings, watercolours and prints with a bold, colourful style capturing the landscapes around her. She takes her studio wherever she goes - both inside and out.

"I like to be in the moment and that is what happens with watercolours, small plein air oil paintings, and monoprints. Moments to be outside can be tricky with changeable weather, but I try.  Always, it is the landscape that I am most interested in."

  • Artist in Resident at The Ness of Brodgar

Painting outdoors at the Ness of Brodgar, the site which is changing perceptions and our understanding of neolithic man. I capture and seek to commemorate the painstaking work of the dig.

  • Wild Yet Beautiful Landscapes

The Orkney Islands, Scotland provide an ever changing landscape with golden hues, stormy greys and earthy tones. I spend time at my gallery and studio in Stromness inspired through the seasons

  • Printmaking

I enjoy the spontaneity and experimentation of monoprint work. On the both sides of the Atlantic, I teach a version of Provincetown Print. The prints go on in life to be functional art - such as lampshades and scarves.
